HALLELUJAH!

Psalm 111

Sunday, 20 August 2023

Praise the LORD! I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. -Psalm 111:1

These few Psalms are dedicated to bringing out the highest form of praise to our God Almighty. Worship is a personal response to God after understanding Him in a personal way. This requires true knowledge of Him. Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise Him forever! (Ps. 111:10 NLT)

True worship of a true God is the centre of our existence here and in eternity. So it is truly important to understand who this God is and respond to Him personally. This is the central theme that is included in this Psalm.

· How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in Him should ponder them. (Ps. 111:2 NLT).

God's amazing deeds are for us to delight in it and ponder on it. This is our part of worship. Turning a blind eye to what God does is really the true loss to humanity. We humans have built up our science on assumptions that are in particular made up to avoid the acceptance of the great deeds He has done in creation and sustenance of this universe. How futile our imaginations are! Look at what Romans 1:20-22 [NLT] says:

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship Him as God or even give Him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. Let us not line up with such but be true worshippers of this true God. Let us perceive Him in His creation, delight in His deeds, ponder on it and worship Him.

· Everything He does reveals His glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. (Ps. 111:3 NLT)

God reveals His glory through what He does for us and in this universe. The most glorious work God has ever done in this universe is seen on the cross of Calvary, showing His love and acceptance of us even when we were sinners. He has paid a full ransom for His people. He has guaranteed His covenant with them forever. What a holy, awe-inspiring name He has! (Ps.111:9 NLT). By this He paved the way for us to know Him and get back to Him through a covenant relationship. What a great God. Hallelujah!!!

· “He causes us to remember His wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our LORD!” (Ps.111:4 NLT)

In whatever way humanity tries to block this life-giving God’s light, He will make His way through so as to know Him and enter into a vital union with Him. He knows who we are, though we don’t really know Him. Hence through many circumstances, He reveals His omnipotence and reminds us of His greatness. Every supernatural work that happens around us, whether it is constructive or destructive brings us back to the same point. From a point of helplessness or profound awe, we look up and worship Him! Let us today gather together before His throne and submit ourselves to Him in worship! That is the most apt thing to do- not the last thing. Hallelujah!!!!

Proclaim: LORD God Almighty we worship You. Hallelujah!
