Exodus 3 : 1-22
Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” -Exodus 3:3
God manifested Himself to Moses in a burning bush in an extraordinary way to get his attention. To experience God’s presence in our lives, we should be alert as Moses was when from afar he saw the burning bush. When God saw that his attention was captured, He began speaking to Moses. We must seek and devote ourselves to experience God in our daily lives.
Moses decision of experiencing God in his life was closely connected with the firm decisions he made. He chose “…rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.” (Hebrews 11:25). In Exodus 2 :11, we see how he went and saw how burdened his people were and he sighted an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren which led him to choose to suffer affliction with the people of God. Moses regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt (Heb.11:26). Though Moses’ understanding of the details of Christ’s hope was extremely limited, he chose to be associated with people through whom that hope could be realized. Are we not tied down, struggling under the burden with which Satan has imprisoned and bound people with their sin?
Like Moses, we ought to regard suffering for the sake of Christ as greater value in the presence of God, than all earthly things. Looking at the life of Moses we learn to experience God’s presence:
A Coming Out: 2Cor.6:17,18 reminds us that we should come out from them (wickedness, darkness, satan, idols) and be separate and be holy without indulging in other sinful activities. God will receive us and as a Father we will experience His presence says the Lord Almighty.
Obedience: John 14:21, 23-Jesus promises to manifest Himself to a person who keeps His commandment and loves Him. If we will obey Jesus Christ’s teaching, He says, “My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with Him.”
Setting our heart and mind onto heaven: Col. 3: 1 says, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated on the right hand of God.” This truth should rule your thought in your daily life and you will experience the presence of Christ as the Word says, “your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Heavenly vision: Hebrews 11:13-15 reminds us that we are looking for the promised land (Heaven) and should confess that we are strangers and aliens in this world. For such people they long and try to be in God’s presence because they consider the world not conducive for them to live in.
Praying at all times: Ephesians 6:18 says, to pray in the Spirit on all occasion with all kinds of prayer and requests. Through prayer we experience God’s presence. The Holy Spirit helps us pray when we don’t know how to pray as we ought. The right role model is our Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
These processes will help us experience in an extraordinary way God’s presence in our lives.
Let Us Pray: "Almighty God we come to Your presence through Christ Jesus. Help each one of us to daily experience your divine presence all throughout our lives. Amen."
