BEHOLD THE LAMB!

Revelation 14:1-20

Friday, 3 December 2021

Rev 14:1 And I saw and, behold, the Lamb stood upon Mount Sion and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand, having the name of his Father written in their foreheads.

Today’s reading gives us the picture of the things that are going to happen in future in heaven and on earth. It can be divided into 3 distinctive parts namely:

  • The lamb and the 144,000 ( Rev 14:1-5)

  • The message of 3 angels (Rev 14:6-13)

  • The harvest of the earth Rev 14:14-20)

Out of all these things of wonder and awe, the greatest of all wonders was the vision of the Lamb who stood on the Mount Zion. All the prophesies consummate in the exalted Christ on His throne. What a sight for any human being to behold the beauty of the Savior. It is the very reason why John is filled with awe and wonder when he saw his Master and Lord in heavenly glories. He cries out aloud to all- Behold the Lamb! All throughout his epistles and in the book of Revelation we can see how he was fascinated about this one thing and keeps on repeatedly coming back to the description of the Lamb. He starts his gospel pointing the reader towards the Lamb of God. John 1:29: “The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” And it ends with: Rev. 22:3: “And there shall no longer be any cursed thing; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in her; and his slaves shall serve him.” If God has given such importance to a subject like this, then it is for our benefit to see the wonder of it.

  • He was our Passover lamb: 1 Cor. 5:7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb has been sacrificed.

  • The Lamb of God becoming our Lamp in eternity: Rev 21:23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.

  • The greatest event of the universe is the Marriage of the Lamb: Rev 19:7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;

Have we ever got this important revelation within us and are we engrossed in the ever-increasing influence of the beauty of the Lamb of God? If not we are missing the centre of attraction of heaven every believer needs to see. Unless the bride is able to see her bride groom, she is missing everything. Heaven can only welcome the bride because the bride groom has betrothed her and had done everything to get her to this wonderful place of rest. Heaven bids us to get a closer to God and look intently to the vision God gives to His elect few - the vision of the Lamb of God. We should be able to say like Apostle John, “I saw.” Let our hearts be clean enough to reflect this glory in our hearts- Matt.5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Prayer: Dear Father please open my eyes of understanding to behold the beauty of my Beloved Lord-Jesus Christ. Amen.
