Revelation 5: 1-14

Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints And they sang a new song, saying: 

"You are worthy to take the scroll,

And to open its seals; For You were slain,

And have redeemed us to God by Your blood

Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,

And have made us kings and priests to our God;

And we shall reign on the earth." -Revelation 5:8-10

Inclusiveness of Earth in Heavenly matters: 

We will always be wonderstruck to realize that God and all of heaven is so pre-occupied with matters of the earth than any other matter. David was trying to comprehend this great truth but he was astonished...

'When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?' (Psalm 8:3-4)

    Now in our key verse, we see a scroll containing the future of the earth and those who dwell on earth. God was waiting for a rightful person according to His divine plan to open it and execute everything in it. No one was found worthy to do it, in all the universe! God is the righteous ruler of the universe and He cannot act otherwise. But God's own Begotten Son Jesus Christ (who is God-Man) became worthy to open it. He became worthy by doing righteously what was required to fulfil God's plan of salvation to the fallen humankind. He shed His own blood to redeem us. Since this act was perfectly completed and His redeemed ones, have been given the delegated authority to complete the evangelization amongst men,God permits His Son to open the scroll. 

The Scroll and its relation to us:

    The opening of the scroll is followed by the execution of what was written in it. This included the destruction of the wicked and gaining control of the whole world to rule it for a thousand year. It is a chain of actions that has to happen here on earth according to God's plan. But, the church prevailing on the earth has to complete its task in the midst of this universal fight of good and evil. Hence we need to exactly know for sure what lies ahead of us; so that we will not be deceived by the enemy and also we need to pray according to God's revealed will in order to complete the task on the earth. God will not do anything upon this earth without us, His people knowing about it and praying about it; (because earth was given to mankind to rule and reign as per God's original plan). 

Revelation 5:7-8: Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints’. 

Also we see how the prayers of saints rise up as sweet fragrance of incense before the throne. How lovely to think that our sincere prayers according to God’s revealed plan is the sweet aroma of heaven! This brings us to the greatest responsibility for understanding God's will through His Word and praying according to His will. This will usher in the inauguration of the reign of Christ upon this earth and relieve this earth from its bondage to the original curse, which came upon the earth due to the fall of Man. 

So as we enter into this new year of 2026 let us consider the following as our primary Goals for this year:

1. To know the will of God from His Word

2. To pray daily according to His will.
