ETERNAL REDEMPTION

Hebrews 9:11-28

Thursday, 18 April 2024

“Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” –Hebrews 9:12 [NKJV]

Today’s reading portion is a wonderful passage, a striking narrative that moves from the experiences of Old Testament covenant to the New one, brought to us by the Lord Jesus Himself through His own blood. 'With His own Blood'- should touch our soul and bring its effects home to our own being in order to be a partaker of this blessing from heaven.

Eternal Redemption & Eternal Covenant:

What Christ has done is of eternal value and not to be considered as something that will vanish by time. It is of timeless effect. It is as near to us; as the first century Christians in Palestine. Its value also does not diminish over time so that it needs to be done again and again. In the Old system,  sacrifices were done yearly. Heb 9:7 NKJV:  But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year… “

However, in Hebrews 9:12 it is stated that the blood of Jesus Christ obtained to us “eternal redemption” and in Hebrews 10:29, the blood of Jesus Christ is referred to as the blood of covenant. Further, in Hebrews 13:20 it is referred as the “blood of the eternal covenant.” Unlike the blood of bulls and goats offered by the high priest yearly, the blood of Jesus, was offered once and for all as a blood of eternal covenant – the lasting impact of that covenant can be experienced by all people who approach Him with a repentant heart at any time and in any place! The timelessness of the covenant signifies that the effect of the covenant relationship and the power of the blood Christ which brought us that covenant, never ceases. HE redeems us and enters into a covenant with each of us beyond the limit of time.

Redemption through the Blood of Christ:

Many who feel guilty today morning need to have a fresh look to the Lord- on to the Cross of Calvary. What does it mean to you? The very blood that flows from Calvary is enough to cleanse your guilt-ridden conscience. It is not like the blood of bulls and goats. It can cleanse our conscience and clear us from all guilt that has accumulated there. Be clean today morning by having a fresh look to Calvary. It not only cleanses you but also brings life- that enables you to live for Him in daily communion.

The blood of Jesus:

1.            Cleanses our Conscience

2.            Frees us from the sting of death and make us alive to God

3.            Frees us from Sin’s power.

What a great deliverance we have!!! Today morning let us really make all this ours by faith and let’s start rejoicing instead of weeping over our plight.

Isaiah 61:3 NKJV:  To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."

God does not want to see His children moody and depressed; instead we need to celebrate this wonderful victory of ours. Let us all join together from the different parts of the world to rejoice in His presence over the great victory we have through the Cross of Calvary.

Prayer: Abba Father, we together thank You for the Eternal redemption we have through the cross and we rejoice in Your presence today. We thank You for the beauty for ashes and we receive it and make it as our portion. Glory to God!!!
