FROM FAITH TO FAITH

Romans 1:1-17

Thursday, 26 January 2023

““For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”- Romans 1:17

In The crux of the Gospel is FAITH from first to last- the first faith to believe what God Almighty has put across to us in the message of the gospel and then the faith to continue living out its message through His power manifest in it! Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “…without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” So Christian life is FAITH all the way!

  • Faith to Believe

On a closer look into the key verse— any other way man tries to get himself right with God than the way prescribed by Him, would be futile. The Gospel reveals God’s righteousness which is obtained only through Jesus Christ! Man’s best efforts or his self-righteousness or religion’s set norms/ observances/rituals of any sort could never fetch God’s righteousness. No amount of good deeds of charity could ever make one right with God. What then is God’s way? Look to His Son! By faith accept what He has done on the cross to make you and me right with Him. Christ died in my place taking the just punishment of my sin so that I could be set free from sin and brought into a right standing with God. That is my righteousness by faith!

  • Faith to Live

Once salvation is obtained, it is only the first step of faith for the Christian. The next steps of the Christian walk- day by day is one of faith! It’s a deep-rooted belief that Christ Jesus lives in the Christian and “… The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20). Its my firm belief that Christ Jesus who gave His life to save me will take me through this life victoriously until I meet Him face to face! Romans 8:32 encourages us thus: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” This is the faith to live by each day in Him!

It does not mean that its going to be a smooth sailing through life, short of any hard times. As long as we live in this fallen world, we will face difficulties, trials, testing of our faith. In these times, the difference between a believer and unbeliever will be visible where his trust is placed. The man of the world who has placed his trust in people, possessions, pride, will find it all shifting sand that will give way to his final fall. But the one who has put his faith in “ABBA FATHER” stays strong, not swayed by the wind of adversity, trusting that GOD will bring him through! That is a living faith! Such people grow from faith to faith!

Faith that is lived out in the person made righteous by God, will trust Him each day to see him through. His living relationship with his Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ by the power of the resident Holy Spirit within him helps him live a victorious life each day. Even in his times of weakness, God’s grace, His enabling power lifts him, strengthens him with the Promises of God’s Word that anchors his trust in God. It is a clinging on to the Lord in faith to see him through victoriously!

The one who has been made right (righteous) by faith, will live by faith! A righteousness by faith from first to last!

To Act On: “…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith….” (Hebrews 12:2)
