 Isaiah 14:1-32

Thursday, 03 September 2026

For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back? – Isaiah 14:27

The world is full of people who find it hard to keep the word they have spoken. World leaders promise peace, husbands make promises to their wives, parents promise many things to their children, friends promise each other, but to our dismay very often they fail to keep their word. But that is not who God is! Through the Scriptures we read that what He has spoken, He is able to perform—be it a blessing for His people or punishment toward the rebellious.

Today’s reading is all about God’s word of restoration over His people (Vs 1-3) and the rightjudgement against their enemies is prophesied in the remaining verses. Have we seen its fulfillment yet? Not fully. But even as we are awaiting the return of Christ Jesus, we will see everything that has been spoken being fulfilled because God does not lie (Numbers 23:19; 1 Sam.15:29).

So why should we be confident that these words would come to pass unlike human plans that fail?

Who is the one that has spoken? Let’s read V.24:

The LORD Almighty has sworn,

“Surely, as I have planned, so it will be,    and as I have purposed, so it will happen.”

The LORD ALMIGHTY!

1. There is no god apart from HIM (Isaiah 14:6,14)

2. HE is a living GOD (Isaiah 49:18)

3. His Covenant with man is eternal never breaks His word (Is.54:9) as He spoke, He will never again destroy the earth with water (Gen.9:11)

4. His Plans stand firm forever (Psalm 33:11, Job 42:2)

Even as we live in such a tumultuous time- be it worldwide or be in your own personal life, you may be facing situations to which you are unable to find answers to. Be reminded that the God who has promised you in the dark days is able to bring to fruition every word He has spoken.

It’s in the darkest time of history when men had no hope for salvation, what was prophesied in Genesis 15 was fulfilled when God sent His SON JESUS to save mankind the first time. He is coming again a second time and this time to right every wrong and judge the nations and everyone who has not acknowledged HIM as LORD ALMIGHTY.  And as Isaiah 45:23, says and as Paul reiterates it twice in –Phil 2:10 & 11 and Romans 14:11— On that day every kneewill bow and every tongue will confess He is Lord. If you have not declared His Lordship over your life, now is the time. Because when he returns it will be too late and all you will face will be His wrath and judgement.

As verse 27 says His hand will be stretched out who can turn it? Right now, it is stretched out to save, the next time it will be stretched out to judge. You might have lived in ignorance till today; but God is giving you a chance to turn to Him. Acts 17:30-31 says, “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” Be assured salvation in Christ Jesus can be yours if you receive Him and yield your life to Him.

Your decision today will determine your destiny.

Quote for the Day: ‘Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands.” Matt10:28 (The Msg)
