“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” - Matthew 24:14 [KJV]
It is indeed clear that the Lord Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples about the end of the age and signs of the End Time. As sojourners on this earth, we hear, feel and see before our very eyes the fulfilment of the gospel realities spoken of by our Lord and Master.
Statements of these gospel realities send forth many warnings and call our attention as believers which gives us the confidence that we are truly serving a real God and Savior of mankind. His infallible statements in reference to false prophets, wars, rumors of wars, famine, pestilence and earthquakes in diverse places (Matthew 24:4-11) are sufficient enough to convince any doubtful and unbelieving or professing believer of fulfilment of the gospel realities.
Today we don’t need anyone to tell us about the visible evidence of false prophets who are making merchandise of men in the name of the gospel of Jesus Christ and Christianity. They are all over the place, making false claims and misleading many. False prophets deceive others! The Lord spoke of such people in the book of Jeremiah: “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.” (Jeremiah 23: 21-22). The Lord not only spoke about false prophets, He categorically says He has not sent such!
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. By reason of the trials and persecutions from outside, and apostasies and false prophets from inside, the love of many to Christ and His doctrine, and to one another, shall grow cold. Some openly desert the faith, others corrupt it, and others grow indifferent about it. Even at the early period in church history, there seems to have been considerable rejection of faith in several Christian Churches – Read through the following portions: Galatians 3:1-4; 2Thessalonians 3:1-2; 2 Timothy 1:15. The situation prevails even today.
The state of affairs that we see around us should prepare our minds as children of God in reaching the unreached; touching lives and positively affecting our generation. We should re-echo the voice of our Master, His words and hence build a better and solid foundation to reach out for souls who need the Saviour. Since the signs of His coming are visibly seen to us, let us pray that the gospel reaches to the ends of the earth and also do whatever we can to send forth the good news! Matthew 24:14 says: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
Those who haven’t acknowledged Christ and heeded His Word or scorned what He has clearly spoken, its time to seek Him while His grace still holds out to you today. 2 Peter 3:9 reminds us: “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Turn to Him and be saved today!
Prayer:
Almighty Lord, give me the wisdom to know Your Word and the strength to proclaim it to the lost souls. In Jesus Name! Amen!
