PROCLAIM HOW GOOD GOD IS!

Psalm 92

Sunday, 2 January 2022

“It is good to praise the LORD….proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night… ” – Psalm 92:1-2

How good it is to praise the Lord as we enter into the new year! Let us praise God for the good things He has bestowed on us- His constant love and His faithfulness! Can you heart be filled with gratitude and praise to your Creator this morning?

The Psalmist praised God for the goodness of His acts (Vs.1-7) and the righteousness of His character (Vs.8-15).

There are two proclamations made:

proclaiming God’s love in the morning and His faithfulness at night

The Psalmist rejoices in what the hand of the Lord has done for him- His great deeds. From time to time, it’s good to recall what God has done in your life. Bring to remembrance His great deeds done to deliver, rescue, protect and keep you; the greatest of his deeds being salvation wrought through His Son, Christ Jesus. Has not the Lord’s grace and mercy been shown to you in rescuing you from the darkness of sin and bringing you into the light of His Kingdom? Colossians1:13-14 [NLT] says: For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins. His love reached out to you and me to forgive our sin and sacrifice His Son for our sake that we be saved! His constant faithfulness continues to keep us in His care! Proclaim God’s love in the morning and His faithfulness at night!

proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

The Psalmist pictures the transience of the wicked in comparison to the permanence of God. The evil doers may flourish for a time but will be destroyed forever, while the Lord’s reign will be forever! (Vs.7-8). The Psalmist also rejoices in God’s victory for him over his enemies. He then moves on to show how the righteous in the Lord will be (Vs.12-15). He pictures them with two trees- palm tree to show fruitfulness and cedar trees to show longevity. Being planted in the temple would show that the godly delight in drawing near to God. Such people proclaim the righteousness of God- the Rock of Ages on whom one’s life can be built solid and strong!

The picture is apt of a mature Christian, saved, and rooted in the Lord, experiencing God’s faithfulness in his/her life and bringing forth the right fruit of a godly life, staying strong on Christ the solid Rock. From such comes proclamations of God’s goodness and of His righteousness all his/her life.

How about you? If you have not entered the new year with the joy of salvation, knowing your Creator as your Lord and Saviour, remember your life is being built on shifting sand. The winds of change in the world can bankrupt your life if not founded and rooted in Christ Jesus, the solid foundation. Your right standing with God can only be possible though a personal relationship with Christ Jesus who took your sin and punishment on Himself and offered His life as a ransom to save you and gift you with eternal life. John 3:17 says: For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” Would you receive Him into your life and experience the joy of salvation so that you too can proclaim His goodness, love and faithfulness all your life?

To Act on: “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8)
