QUEST FOR THE CREATOR

Matthew 7:1-14

“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” -Matthew 7:8

The thirst for knowledge and advancement is so much more seen in our era than ever before. The Mission to Mars, probing studies on cell biology with the intent to create/preserve life are among the hot pursuits of man in our day. Yet the aching emptiness in man that can be filled only by His Creator- God Himself, remains. Ecclesiastes 3:11[AMP] says, “…He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—“The eternal quest for man is to seek and find God!

People—who have asked questions about their existence, who’ve sought to find the find the fingerprints on the mystery of all creation, who’ve knocked the possible doors to seek “salvation” for their souls—those who have earnestly sought after the truth have found it! Every person has a belief system- many would like to hold on to what they have been handed down their generations while others break free to think logically and arrive at their own conclusions. But ultimately if it doesn’t lead one to find the Almighty God, it can be pointless.

People who have turned to the BIBLE for answers have found that their search was worthwhile and it has ultimately led them to the central figure of its content- Jesus Christ! Such genuine encounters have transformed lives into living testimonies!

From our key verse, I would like bring out a few pointers to people who are on a search:

For everyone who asks, receives

A man named Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10) who had heard about Jesus finally heard him out when he asked Jesus into his home and that encounter made a great change in his life. Salvation came to both him and his household! There are many out there in the world who see Jesus not more than a religious figure- but He stands at the centre of history - His life demonstrated what he preached and His Words carry life to those who receive Him.

Everyone who seeks, finds

Many are the testimonies of people who sought and prayed like Sadhu Sunder Singh: “…if there is a God, reveal yourself to me…”* The nail-pierced Christ appeared to Sunder Sing and ever since he became an ardent believer who carried the gospel not just across India but to several other nations. Hebrews 11: 6 speaks to those who seek God: “…anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

To everyone who knocks, the door will be opened

Our reading speaks of both a narrow and a broad gate- the narrow gate leading to life and the broad one leading to hell (vs.13,14). Entry into God’s Kingdom is through the right door which God has assigned to enter in. Jesus spoke in John 10:9: “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved…" There is another door that needs to be opened- that’s the door of your heart. Jesus said “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20). Are you willing to let Him have an entry into your life and have a close relationship with Him?

Ask! Seek! Knock! – three keys in your quest to know God your Creator! May you should Ask the right questions, Seek the right answers and Knock on the right door in leading you to your Creator!

Quote for the Day: “There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God, the Creator, made known through Jesus.” -Blaise Pascal
