As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him. - 2 Samuel 22:31
GOD is perfect in all His ways be it His wisdom, providence, protection, grace, mercy, love, justice – every attribute of Him! Since GOD’s ways are perfect, we can trust in Him at all times.
Deuteronomy 32:4 speaks of God thus: “He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.” We are living in turbulent times when injustice, war, crimes, calamities are on the increase than ever before. It is easy to lose heart and succumb to gloom and think if there is any meaning to life at all. But the anchor for a believer is the Almighty who is immutable- unchanging and to remember He is sovereign! If we lose our trust in Him at such perilous times, we would end up in the pit of despair. It is at such times that the believer can look up to GOD who is the Rock, who is upright and whose ways are just. He is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all He does (Psalm 145:17). Let us anchor our hope in a faithful GOD!
Besides, GOD who is perfect in all His ways, His Word too is proven to be trusted. The Psalmist, David through his personal experiences and trying times had proven GOD’s Word to be true- hence his testimony in these lines. “And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.” (Psalm 12:6). His trust in God’s promises sustained him in his trying times. The purity of GOD’s Word is compared to the silver and gold refined in fire until they are free of all dross- there is no deception or deceit in His Word. “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20). In the varied circumstances of life, men and women of GOD have proved His promises to be trusted and true! We too can!
Coming back to the scenario in the world today, where fear and hopelessness is bound to fill a person, the one who has put his/her trust in Christ can boldly look to the LORD to be a shield protecting him/her. David had faced many troublesome situations where his life was in jeopardy unless the Lord protected and shielded him. Hence he boldly says in Psalm 3:3 “But you, LORD are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” GOD is our only security and safeguard in this troubled and chaotic world. He is a shield to those who take refuge under His wings.
Dear friend, what are your struggles today? Be ready to give them over to the Lord. Let us put our trust in a GOD whose ways are perfect, whose Word is flawless and whose protection is our only shield! Let us hold on to His promises over our lives and remember He is faithful to fulfil them; for Hebrews 10:23 [NLT] says: “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
To Remember: “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” (Proverbs 30:5)
