THE LORD ANSWERS!

Psalm 6

I am worn out, O LORD; have pity on me! Give me strength; I am completely exhausted. -Psalm 6:2

Most times as humans we are moved by the confidence of our wisdom and abilities to handle situations surrounding our lives and activities. We often depend on making positive confessions by disregarding the negatives in order to show our spiritual strength. We would like to brave it up and say it is well, when we are fully aware that it is not really well. The Psalmist gives us clear pictures of our approach towards God our Maker when things are not in their right footing.

We should always trust in the Lord our God who is our shield.  In moments of challenges and discouragements, Our Lord and Master promised not to leave us nor forsake us. He knows every situation we are going through and would appreciate it so much if we would be willing to voice it out to Him in prayer just as they are.

Oh what peace we often forfeit,

Oh what needless pains we bear,

All because we do not carry,

Everything to God in prayer.

The situation of the Psalmist gives a picture of disappointment, fear, guilt, impatience and discouragement; verses 2,3,4, 6 & 7, help us to understand this in more detail. It is very good to express the exact feelings of our problem to the Lord just as they are, rather than trying to act fine. We often suffer in silence in the name of spiritual maturity just because we refuse to recognize the Lord as our shield and totally empty ourselves to Him. 

The Lord is the protector of our lives, and with him we are always safe. He protects us like a shield; He defends and keeps us safe. He is always our shield from danger; He gives us victory and restores our courage.  

When Jesus was passing through Jericho, Luke 18:35-40 records that he encountered a blind beggar. But before Jesus could reach the blind man, He was already cautioned by the disciples to keep quiet, but the blind man having heard about who Jesus is, refused to keep quiet and kept on shouting even louder until he captured the attention of Jesus to himself. He called out to the Lord in his need.

In moments of distress, discouragement, disappointments etc we should always let God know what the truth of our feelings are. Peter did not hide his feelings but said; "Master," Simon answered, "we worked hard all night long and caught nothing. But if you say so, I will let down the nets." (Luke 5:5) Peter saw someone standing in front of him who is mightier than their problems and was willing to trust in His word and command at once. Most times the Lord wantsto show His might in several situations but the response he gets from us prevents him from doing so.

God said in his word ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3) Whenever we put our case and supplication before the Lord, He always answers us; But sometimes the answers He gives do not match up with our expectations. So we somehow feel discouraged and forget how faithful he has been to us in the past and became dispirited and end up in grumbling thereby losing our confidence in Him—this response makes Him to know how much we are grown and matured in Him.

Whatever answer He gives, is to strengthen or test our faith, confidence, steadfastness and commitment in Him and for His service. As the shield of our lives, He is always waiting and listening to hear from us.

The Psalmist had his prayers answered after pouring out his heart to the Lord his Maker!

Think on: In God, we know that all things work together for good to them that love him, to them who are called according to his purpose. (Rom.8:28)
