Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” -Revelation 11:15

The book of Revelation is the consummation of God’s plans – a unique book with a unique message. The book begins with “The Revelation of Jesus Christ…” (Rev.1:1)—the unveiling of the person of Jesus Christ. God presents to humanity the consummation of all previous messages in the Bible: “Jesus Christ-the Victor.” The message in Revelation is: God rules history and will bring it to its consummation in Christ. While John 1:29 introduced Jesus as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”, Revelation presents the triumph of the Lamb.

There are seven visions God showed John which were to be handed over to the churches and they who read, hear and heed these things would be blessed (Rev.1:1-3). John was to record the visions and commit it to the Seven churches mentioned so that they understand and conduct themselves in the light of those messages. Keeping in mind that 7 is the number often used in the Bible to denote perfection the messages to the 7 Churches in Revelation are meant for the total Church in the total world.

In Chapter 4 of Revelation, there is a significant turn of events.  Through the opened door, John was transported in the spirit to the heavenly realm being shown certain scenes in heaven – those were not dreams but real things happening in heaven. He saw the throne of God (Vs.2, 3) and 24elders sitting on their thrones around God’s throne. John then sees those elders getting down from their thrones, casting their crowns before the throne of God and worshipping Him (V.10).

God conveys a very significant message to us through those scenes. Whatever happens on the earth, the throne of God is still in heaven – irrespective of our condition, God’s sovereignty and rule is a reality and we cannot and should not ignore it. The elders, though seated on thrones wearing crowns, they counted their thrones and crowns insignificant before the glory, authority and sovereignty of God!

In our reading today, John sees the vision associated with the sounding of the Seventh Trumpet. Jubilant voices were heard in heaven rejoicing at the great upcoming event – the reclamation of the earth created by Christ to Himself. Vs.18 says “…..the time came …. to destroy those who destroy the earth.” Sounding of the seventh Trumpet has set in motion certain events which will lead to the redemption of the entire world – “The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and His Christ”. (vs15). This is a significant event. Acts 4:26 speaks of the rage of nations and its rulers gathering against the Lord. The rebellion of the kingdoms of this world against the Kingdom of God, especially against Jesus Christ will soon end and Christ will take over the kingdoms of this world.  God allowed a period of rebellion of these worldly regimes because God is long suffering desiring people to come to repentance. The time is soon coming when all the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of Jesus Christ and He will rule forever!

Rev.10:6 &7 gives the assurance of its imminence-there will be no delay. “ that there will be delay no longer, but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants, the prophets.” As we see continuous rebellion against the Lord’s people and His word universally, we feel pain in our heart. But when read of the assurance in these verses, let us take courage and be filled with hope and power to carry on with the affairs of His Kingdom. Rev.11:17 ”We give you thanks , O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.”

It is an undeniable fact that Jesus Christ will rule the earth as King in the Millennial Kingdom on this earth. All the persecution that we see against the Lord’s work and His people will vanish and will be replaced by absolute subjection to the authority of Jesus Christ. Rev.12:10 “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night.”

Dear saints of the Lord, take courage and serve Him because He is “King of kings and Lord of lords” (Rev.19:16)

God’s promise: “Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” (Psalm 2:8)
