THE SOVEREIGN GOD

Daniel 2:24-49

“However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries…...” -Daniel 2:28 [NASB]

The life of Daniel is a vivid example of how the sovereign God works out His purposes both in history and the life of an individual devoted to Him. The book of Daniel has its prophetic part with what God reveals about the future—one of them is cited in the dream the king sees and Daniel trusts in God to interpret. When faced with the toughest stance from king Nebuchadnezzar to reveal his dream and its meaning, Daniel confidently declares: “…there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries!”

The vision the king saw of his kingdom and the future kingdoms could never be interpreted by any human. In as much as the Lord wanted to capture the attention of the king to make him understand that though he considered himself to be powerful, the God of heaven has the affairs of his kingdom and the entire world in His time plan. A final one—“…a kingdom which will never be destroyed…. it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.” (V.44) is God’s Kingdom which will ultimately reign!

The focus on our key thought for today:

The GOD who reveals mysteries: Paul breaks out into exuberant praise when He tries to grasp the ways of God: “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? Or who has first given to Him That it might be paid back to him again? For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” Job’s understanding prompts him also to speak much about Him one of which is: “He reveals mysteries from the darkness And brings the deep darkness into light.” (Job 12:22)

In our limited human wisdom, we often fail to comprehend His outworking in many situations we see around us or in our lives. It is fully upto God to reveal to us what He wills-in the best of His wisdom and for our good. We can still ask Him, as He told Jeremiah: ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’ (Jer.33:3 AMP) And when He does, it brings glory to His name and His good plan in our lives!

The mystery in you: The great mystery which was hidden in the past but given to us today: “…the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but has now been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery…., which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:26,27)

We who are in Him, to us He has revealed the mystery of His will that He planned in Christ and “… we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will (Refer Eph.1:9-11).

Dear child of God, the secret of Christ living in us gives us the assurance of sharing in His glory one day (Col.1:26NLT). If Christ is in us, we are complete in Him! Our lives centered in Him takes care of our everything until we see Him face to face! What an assurance!

Would you friend, consider the sovereignty of God in history and your life and totally surrender to Him?

Prayer: Sovereign LORD help me to trust You with all my heart knowing You are working all things in conformity to Your will. Amen.
