“Human wisdom, brilliance, insight— they are of no help if the LORD is against you. You can get horses ready for battle, but it is the LORD who gives victory.” -Proverbs 21:30-31[GNT]
Everything in all creation starts and ends with the LORD GOD our Creator. As humans, we are prone to the temptation of thinking that we have all the answers/solutions to life’s issues and problems without considering the supremacy of the Lord Almighty. This is why the word of God encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not rely on what we think we know; because our human knowledge can in no way match up with the supremacy and wisdom of the Lord our King.
The Pharisees and teachers of the Law after holding onto God’s word for decades could not fully comprehend the meaning of Jesus’ associations with tax collectors and the outcast of the society, because they tried to use human wisdom and insight to conclude divine reality. Since the Lord is supreme, we should carefully and meticulously consider His personality and attributes which consist of Love, Kindness, Patience, Forgiveness and Mercy—with this in mind the express personality of the Godhead will be seen vividly in us in our relationships and how we respond to others.
The Lord deserves the praise, honour and glory for all and in all that we do as His children. During our plans and daily activities based on our human studied calculated thinking, we may get caught up with several ideologies that oppose God’s supremacy. We often forget that the heart of the king and every one of us is in His hands and He turns it like channels of water (Prov.21:1). We are encouraged in the word of God to plan carefully because it is only in careful planning with the Lord that we experience His wisdom and the power of His supremacy.
God always has two ways to show the best of His supremacy to the full view of humanity which are SLOWLY and SUDDENLY. After doing every effort with our human wisdom, brilliance and insight leaving God outside completely, because we think He is Slow and we end up without results, get frustrated and tired; thereby faced with a huge wall called human limitations, then Suddenly God shows up because a foundation is set for the demonstration of His supreme authority. God always showed up when man realized and acknowledged his limitations. Nebuchadnezzar is a simple, perfect example in Daniel 4:33-37. Daniel and his friends were saved from a perilous situation when God’s wisdom was poured forth to Daniel to interpret the king’s dream.
Our Supreme God is unlimited even though we are limited in every facet of life, troubled by challenges of the world around us, yet our Lord and supreme Master who sees everything knows everything, encourages us to stand with Him by faith and trust in Him. He is more than able to intervene in any of our difficult situations, granting us His victory at the right time. We are his set-apart people, the sheep of His pasture— we should be concerned more about Him and the voice of His instructions to us than ourselves. When we do His business, He takes up our concerns and causes and delivers us- remember He is supreme!
Think on it: “It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the LORD, you are safe. Everybody wants the good will of the ruler, but only from the LORD can you get justice.” (Proverbs 29:25-26)
