"For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand? -Revelation 6:17

Just as Genesis is the Book of beginnings, Revelation is the Book of consummation. In it the divine program of redemption is brought to fruition, and the holy name of God is vindicated before all creation (Introduction to Revelation: NKJV Bible). This wonderful book is the consummation of all that has been revealed through the Prophets earlier.

This great day of the wrath of God is spoken right from Old Testament prophets itself. (Isaiah 13:6-22; Jer. 30:7; Joe 2:31; Zeph. 1:14-18; Rom.2:5; Jude 1:6, Matt. 24 etc;). This should sound as a clarion call for every human being on earth. This is sure to come. All that Jesus himself had said in Matthew 24 is presently happening around us. So the rest of the things are sure to happen. We do not know exact time and date but one thing is sure; according to the progress of things happening, we know for sure that it is at hand. Are we prepared to meet the Judge of the universe on that great day of wrath? The Bible itself asks the question: Who can stand?

God's intention in revealing these things is to bring in us a holy fear of God so that we can truly escape this day of terror. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation (2Cor. 7:10). Sinners in the hand of an angry God was the mega theme of the preaching in the 18th and 19th centuries, which brought in true repentance and revival. The terror of falling into the hand of God was adequately described, and with the help of Holy Spirit, it brought in a divine fear in the hearts and minds of people. But these days, we hear none of this preaching. And hence the fear of God has vanished from the hearts of people of this generation. Marginalization and dilution of the divine truths bring in perils untold to this generation who wish to walk away thinking God is not going to see or act. But they will be proven wrong! God is patiently waiting only because He wants none to perish. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.” (2Peter 3:9-10)

Then the question remains- Who can stand? Or who will qualify to get away from this terrible day of wrath of God? The answer is not a secret but it is very plain and clear message from God to all humans. All those who are saved and washed in the blood of Jesus Christ and continue through faith in Him will be the overcomers who will not be harmed by second death. To escape from that death, the way to eternal life is given in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. So let it be our humble prayer that we belong to the ones who are saved by this Life-giver and Saviour of mankind-JESUS CHRIST!

Remember:

"For the Lord himself will descend........., and so we will always be with the Lord." (1Thessalonians 4:16-17)
