THE STORY OF REDEMPTION

Genesis 2 : 1-25

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, -----Because she was taken out of Man.” -Genesis 2:21-23

The Bible is a book written primarily about God -the Creator and the Redeemer. From Genesis to Revelation, God's story of redemption is the underlying theme. The fallen world lacks the power to capture the real beauty of this beautiful book and its content. As God opens our eyes of understanding we see the beautiful story of how this loving creator God came down in history to redeem the fallen man back to Him.

The first glimpse of this is seen in the account of the creation of Eve itself. See Gen. 2:21-23: "And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept and He took one of his ribs, ------This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."

The First man- Adam, is undergoing a process in his life in order to receive a help-meet, Eve.  In the modern-day terms, he had to undergo an operation in which his side was opened and a rib was removed by God and this rib was made into a beautiful wife for Adam. Thus God lays the foundation of marriage in human history. But this also foreshadows the coming event in history of how God is going to redeem man for Himself. In a similar way, we see Christ on the cross of Calvary, His side pierced-the result was the church, the bride of Christ. Hence church is a heavenly body created from the opened wound of the creator God Himself. As the second Adam was pierced, lifeblood flowed out for redeeming men from their sins. All those who accept this sacrifice as the penalty paid for their sins and accept Him as their Savior, become born from above or born again as a new creation. The church of God consists of these born again redeemed ones.

The first Adam sacrificed one of his own ribs to receive his beloved but the Second Adam, Jesus Christ poured out His own very life to redeem His beloved Church. Eve is described as one in body with Adam, but all who are born again are one in spirit with Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:17"But he who is joined with Lord is one spirit with Him".

Dear reader, have you become one among this redeemed heavenly community? If not today is the day for you to accept Him as your personal Savior and Lord of your life. The invitation is open. What you gain is Eternity with God - a life far better than anything else in this world. My sincere prayer is that God may open your eyes of understanding to receive this heavenly life. If you really love to surrender your very life to God this morning, then please come before God in prayer:

Prayer:

"Dear God, I understand and accept the fact that I am a sinner. I also understand the price Jesus paid on Calvary to redeem me from my sins. I want You to cleanse me from my sins. I welcome You to my heart as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for accepting me as Your son. In Jesus name, Amen.
