CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S DELIVERANCE

Psalms 27

"Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident." – Psalms 27:3

David knew what it was like to experience the heights of faith and the depths of fear.  This Psalm is written in the midst of some trouble and danger and the same trust he had put in God His deliverer at such times is expressed throughout the Psalm. David fought both his external and internal battle by placing his confidence in deliverance from God by declaring his faith in Him.

Psalm 27:4 says, "…That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple." gives an insight of how his internal battle is fought by seeking/asking to be in the holy presence of God to meditate on His word. He does not neglect to pray, petition and seek His face, "Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice, ……Your face, O Lord, I shall seek." (Psalm 27:7-8.) The Psalm ends in him waiting for the Lord. We see David’s understanding of God’s mighty protection in all types of warfare. "For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock." (Psalm 27:5) Being in His presence, meditating upon His words, seeking His face, waiting upon Him are very important keys to our victory in any situation.

Of our many battles, one that hinders us from stepping out to do the Lord’s work is the fear that all powers of hell will come against us. Yes, we do become a threat to the kingdom of darkness.  But we should not forget, being the sons and daughters of the King of kings, of the Kingdom of Light, we have an army with us to defend and fight our enemies. Think about this – in an earthly army the highest protection is given to the General of the army. So too the generals in the army of the Living God get a great number of angelic hosts deployed on their behalf.  Prophet Elisha understood this(2 Kings 6:8-20); Vs.17- "And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and ….he behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha." Chapter 10 in the book of Daniel is another example.

So what is our part in all these battles that are going on in the heavenlies?  We have to declare by faith His Word, His promise of protection reminding ourselves of the angels that God has been assigned for each one of us. Jesus tells Peter in Mathew 26:53 “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?” The angels fight our battles and also protects us. Word says that the battle belongs to the Lord (2 Chr 20:15).  Psalm 103:20 says, “…you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word!  Angels hearken unto the voice of the Lord which is His Word.

Our job is to get more of the word of God into our spirit/heart so that they come forth from our mouth in prayer. Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7) And Apostle Paul instructs us in Ephesians 6:18 to pray at all times in the Spirit with all prayer and petition.

Remember:  “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."  - Ephesians 6:12
