THE MAN WITH A MISSION

John 7 : 25-53

“… for I am from Him, and He sent Me.” -John 7:29

Jesus spoke and lived on this earth as a man with a mission. There was a lot of disbelief amongst the several sections of the people of His day as to who Jesus was. Some of them saw the works He did and were convinced but others looked for further evidence on whether he was truly the Christ. The Pharisees and chief priests wanted Him arrested as he was getting more popular amongst the people.

No matter what people said or how they viewed Him, Jesus was very clear of His mission and was not moved by the reactions of people. Speaking of God, His heavenly Father, He said, “But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.” (John 7:29). What He spoke and taught was what He received from God: “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.” (John 7:16) Though His words and works proved He was sent by God, many were prejudiced and blinded such that they could not recognize Him as their Messiah.

It is much the same in our day-2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “The god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” The Good news of how Jesus, God’s Son came to save mankind from sin and eternal death is still shared all around the world- yet many are confused, misled and even unaware of who Jesus is.

For those who have not yet understood the Person who stands at the centre of History- here is a brief note:
The first man and woman whom God created, fell into sin through their disobedience- all mankind who came after them too had to bear the consequence of their sin: “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men…(Rom.5:12). “…for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of the Lord.” (Romans 3:23). Sin separates man from a holy God and leads us finally to eternal destruction. “For the wages of sin is death…” (Rom.6:23). There was no way any man could fully meet the just requirement of appeasing sin. Hence God Himself sent His only begotten Son to pay the penalty of our sin by His death on the cross so that mankind would receive eternal life instead of death (John 3:16).

But the response on your part is to believe in Him as the only means to reconcile you to God! Jesus said, “I am way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6). For those who have not received Him: If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) God is offering you salvation as a gift. All you have to do is take this free gift and experience His everlasting life. The choice is yours!

The Promise:

“In him [Christ] we have redemption through his blood,

the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with

the riches of God’s grace…”

-Ephesians 1:7
