Galatians 6 : 1-18

“Do not be deceived, God is not be mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” -Galatians 6:7

Apostle Paul in the final chapter of the Book of Galatians serves a strong warning to people everywhere not to be deceived by the subtle tactics of the devil. We see deception right from the beginning of the world where Eve was deceived by Satan to eat the fruit forbidden by God. She was deceived because she gave in to the three lies that Satan put across her- the lust of the eyes, and the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.

1 John 2:16 clearly states, “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievement and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” (NLT) How true!!! People living according to their own fleshly desires, wanting to have their own way, walking according to their own will, running towards fulfilling selfish ambitions and motives in life will have to face the consequences of such a choice.

A man reaps what he sows: Galatians 6:8: “For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

This is the principle of nature. The choice is that of the farmer and he surely faces the consequence of the choice he makes, whether good or bad. It is likewise in the spiritual realm. Our God is a loving God and He has given us the free will to choose.

Adam and Eve had the choice of choosing to continue in close fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden and enjoy life in His presence, but they chose not to, by their disobedience. Lucifer had the choice of serving God as leader of the heavenly choir, but he chose not to by rebelling against God. The consequence of the choice they made?— The intimate fellowship with God was broken, they fell into sin; and the ultimate wage of sin is nothing but death, both physical and eternal.

Jeremiah 17:10 says, "I the Lord search the heart and test the mind to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” We have the choice of choosing our ways and the deeds that follow. There are only two ways— the way that leads to life and the way that leads to death. It rests upon us to choose one way. It is impossible for anyone to travel both ways at the same time. How do we choose the right path? How do we know if we are on the right track in our lives? Take the test from the Word of God: Read Galatians 5:19-23. Let us examine our own selves to see if we are on the way to life everlasting.  If not, may the Holy Spirit guide and encourage us to choose a Spirit-filled life today. It is never too late. God loves us and wants everyone everywhere to be saved and enjoy the fullness of life through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Make the wise decision of sowing in obedience to God and His commandments and be assured of reaping the plentiful harvest of God’s blessings in our lives and on our generations to come. May we sow and reap in abundance the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, humility and self-control in our lives.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father, we come to You for grace and mercy today. May the Holy Spirit guard our hearts and minds from being deceived by the evil one; may Your will be the will of our lives. In Jesus name. Amen!
