The focus of our reading is the Restoration of God’s people. Though they had rebelled against Him and would bear the consequences of their rebellion, in His love and mercy, God would restore them! The glorious return of the people and the excellence of the restored nation are described. In Jer 33:26 of the same chapter God says, “ …. But I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.”

Restoration is a subject seen throughout the Bible. God promises restoration to His people in Deuteronomy 30:2-3 when they would repent and turn back to Him – “the LORD your God will bring you back….and will gather you again…”  The hope of a redeemer is seen as early as in Job 19:25:  “As for me I know that my Redeemer lives…” Ephesians 1:7 speaks of Christ our Redeemer: “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.”

Redeemer, Redemption, Restoration – are prominent themes dealt with such clarity that we can trust God’s faithfulness and mercy and be confident in Him for the restoration of our lives. When the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) Jesus comes to REDEEM and RESTORE. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God offers restoration to the whole world. Lives that are destroyed, shattered gets a re-make at the foot of the cross!

We read in the Bible that redemption and restoration through Jesus is an eternal plan of God and the Lamb of God was sacrificed not for a period of time, but for eternity. In Rev.5:5-10 – John saw the vision of “the Lamb standing as if slain” and the subsequent breaking of the seals of the book. Rev.5: 9 says, “they sang a song, saying “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”

The two-fold purpose of God in history is seen fulfilled – to Reclaim His Kingdom and to Redeem His people. The Lamb that is pictured in Rev.5:6 has seven horns; horns stand for power, strength and authority to rule. The picture of Jerusalem portrayed in Chapter 32 is of destruction, calamity and desolation. But in the midst of it, God promises restoration! This tells us that God’s plan for every person living on this earth is to restore his life. This is the firm will of God; He cites the example of the unceasing cycle of day and night He has created, to show His determination of executing the restoration of His people (Jer.33:20,21).

God is determined to restore you. In His mercy, Christ the Lamb of God was slain to redeem you. His blood is still available to pay the price of redemption on your behalf. Jesus is strong enough to deliver you from any stronghold which you are in now- may it be rebellion, passions, addictions of any sort, uncontrolled anger, anything …so that you will be able to proclaim, “The LORD my Righteousness!”

God’s principle to come to Him is the same: “Call to Me, and I will answer you…” (Jer.33:3)  If you think you are far from the reach of God, He says to you: “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is there anything too difficult for me?” (Jer.32:27)

“Jesus, My Redeemer, thank You for Your covenant of Restoration through Your blood which paid the price for my redemption. May Your righteousness always cover me as I give my life to You! Amen.”
