The Psalmist is raising an alarm that faithful and godly men are no more to be found. The days of Psalmist is marked out by:

1. Disappearance of the faithful and godly (Ps 12:1)

2. Flattering lips and double heart (Ps 12:2) 

3. Proud and haughty men (Ps 12:3)

4. Deceitful tongue and self-willed people (Ps 12:4)

5. Oppression of the poor and needy (Ps 12:5)

The Psalm connects to the end-time scenario before us. The Lord Himself has said that: “.... when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8). Apostle Paul warns that: “… in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, .....so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith” (2Tim.3:1-8). Jesus said one of the signs of His coming will be that the world will witness the sins that prevailed in the times of Noah and Lot.

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matt. 24:37)
“But on the day that Lot ... it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” (Luke 17:29-30)

 

Days of Noah:

As we read in Genesis 6, we see that all flesh were corrupted and it talks about the peculiar kind of marriage that was happening between the people: that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. (Gen. 6:2). In other words, fallen spirits were corrupting the human genealogy and giants were filling the earth and violence increased. Only exception was Noah and his family. They were undefiled in this matter and God preserved them as seeds for the new world that emerged out of the flood.

Our culture has already accepted homosexuality and same sex marriage. Tampering of human DNA with CRISPR-genome editing technology is in its advanced stages—one step near to tailor-made human beings. That is to say, humanity is entering into stages of utter corruption. This was the basic evil of Noah's days and God destroyed them. See how Jesus equates both times: … marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark… (Matt.24:38).

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned...; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah...., bringing in the flood on… the ungodly” (2Peter 2:4-5).

 

Days of Lot:

Abraham interceded for the city on the basis of faithful men.  ..Suppose ten should be found there?" And He said, "I will not destroy it for the sake of ten." (Gen.18:32). Sin of homosexuality and arrogance is matched with our days. Peter talks clearly on this matter: .. Sodom and Gomorrah…making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; (2Peter 2:6)

 

Clear signs of Last Days:

The last days are clearly portrayed in this beautiful Psalm, which gives hope for those who trust in the Word of God because it stands for ever. (vs 5-7). So let us raise up our voice like a trumpet and warn this generation like Noah and let us eagerly await the immediate return of the Lord!
