Psalms 138

“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul.”- Psalm 138:3

God created man in His own image. He walked and talked with Adam and Eve every day in the Garden of Eden. He loved and sought fellowship with His creation. Then came the time of temptation when Adam and Eve were tricked into eating the forbidden fruit.  If only they had called upon God at that time to seek His guidance, they would not have lost the fellowship with God and fallen into sin.  They would not have become the cause of curse and sin to enter this world that was so beautifully created by God.  A very important lesson we need to learn in our lives on calling upon God!

We often depend on our own abilities and strength to solve problems in life but many a time we experience failures and sin enters our lives as a result of our decisions. Not only does it affect us, we also cause others to suffer because of our poor decisions.  We become weak in our souls and lose hope.  But we can change our hopelessness in life into hope-filled situations for the well-being of our souls and lives!  We have a God who can lift us out of the pit of misery and despair and out from the clutches of destruction. Call upon Him! 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, ‘For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you. Indeed, the ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation.”’   Today is the day you can call on Him!

God is forgiving; it is in His nature to forgive.  Isaiah 1:18: "Come now, let's settle this," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.”  The world is running far and wide seeking ways to be cleansed of their sins, in ways of their own thinking but here we see a God who stretches out His hand and promises to cleanse us from our sins, however bad and dirty they may be.  You can be made whole again! Only come to Jesus for in Acts 2:21: “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we can be saved.  Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus shed His blood on the cross to set us free from sin and death.  Are you washed in the cleansing blood of Christ?

Proverbs 1:27-30 says, “when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. “Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord. Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke…”   Today, decide and dedicate your heart to fear the Lord and call upon Him all your life.  God will fulfil the desire of those who fear Him; He will hear their cry and will save them. (Ps.145:19)

Today, if there be any troubles in our hearts and lives, may the Holy Spirit help us to cry out to Him in humility and in faith. Be assured that God will deliver you, whatever be the circumstance in your life!

Thought:  “…and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” Psalm 50:15
