Psalm 8 is a song of exuberant praise from the heart of the Psalmist who considers the work of the Creator God and sees in all of His creation, His majesty!

We have no words to describe the majesty and awesomeness of GOD- HE IS INDESCRIBABLE! Psalm 19:1-2 TLB says “The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvelous display of his craftsmanship. Day and night they keep on telling about God.” One could just look at an amazing sunrise/sunset or a night sky full of stars and marvel at the display of GOD’s design! You could gaze on a cascading waterfall, or the varied lines on a zebra or even a tiny flower of an unusual pattern and wonder at God’s creation! If we would just pause and think of the various systems of the universe- their design, their course, their working… we could never comprehend with our finite mind how it all functions – yet it would be an opportunity to lift our hearts in praise to our awesome GOD!

It certainly makes us think how small we are and would make us want to cower in insignificance. But that is way beyond the point- when we read the entire Psalm, we see that man is the crown of God’s creation and it was GOD’s design that he rules over the rest of GOD’s creation. However in our fallen state of sin, we have cut for ourselves a sorry figure, having lost the glory and splendor which was originally ours. Again, all hope is not lost- GOD made a way through Jesus Christ to be restored, to recover our majesty in Him when we put our trust in Him (NKJV Study Bible).

GOD is mindful of man- He thinks about him and wants man (each of us) to have a meaningful relationship with Him! He who fashioned the stars and knows them each by name fashioned each of us: “Your hands have made me and fashioned me, an intricate unity…” (Job 10:8). Our Maker cares about us! His heart is sad when we run away from Him and does not understand the innumerable ways He tries to get our attention to Him. O wandering soul, why do you reject His love, His beckoning to seek Him and know Him? He wants to give you nothing less than His best for your life- if only you would give your life to your Creator and ask Him to direct your steps in His ways!

Do you know your Creator? If yes, take some time today to worship Him for HE is an awesome GOD and majestic in all His works- you are one of them! If you haven’t met your Creator, let today be the day you decide to acknowledge the GOD of the Universe as the LORD of your life- you can know Him through Jesus Christ – there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Turn to Him and be saved; worship Him in the splendor of His majesty!
