PROCLAIM HIS WONDERFUL WORKS

Sunday, 27 January 2019

Psalms 105

Give thanks to the LORD, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done. Sing praise to the LORD; tell the wonderful things he has done.” -Psalm 105:1&2 [GNT]

Our God and Master of the universe who is awesome, marvellous and incomparable to none, full of countless wonders and undisputable greatness in all creation, deserves more than we can ever offer to Him as an expression of our knowledge of Him and His divine powers. Proclaiming the supremacy of our Lord and King is of more importance than anything in all creation.

Proclaiming God’s wonderful works always tells us that we can’t do without Him. Because it is only in Him, we live, move and have our being. In today’s competitive culture, man is talking about winning, succeeding, conquering and overcoming rather than submitting surrendering and obeying. When God is exalted in our lives, family, work and career in submission and service to Him, the desires of His heart to reach humanity does not become a burden to us.

It is very important that we proclaim the name of the Lord and His wondrous works now that we have the opportunity to do so, because a day is coming when human pride will be ended, and human arrogance will be destroyed. Idols will completely disappear, and the LORD alone will be exalted on that day (Isaiah 2 :17). It’s a great privilege to have the opportunity to praise the Lord and proclaim His holy name and wonderful works.

When the Lord’s name and His wonderful work is proclaimed and exalted in our lives, family, community and amongst the nations, we can experience His glory being revealed. The Lord himself has this to say in John 8:28-30: ‘So he said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, you will know that 'I Am Who I Am'; then you will know that I do nothing on my own authority, but I say only what the Father has instructed me to say. And he who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I always do what pleases him." Many who heard Jesus say these things believed in him.’

It is important that we do not draw attention to ourselves but exalt the Lord and give Him the praise that He only deserves. When we tell of His wonderful works in our lives, may we give Him honour, the rightfully due to Him. Let us remember its His grace and mercy that saved us while we were yet sinners and brought us to the Kingdom of light. Let us always be grateful of His goodness and kindness towards us in providing for our daily needs. And as opportunity arises, let us life His name as we proclaim His works in our lives.

To Act on:

“Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts

of those rejoice who seek the Lord!”

– Psalm 105:3
