Psalms 29

The voice of the Lord is heard in all its might and majesty. -Psalm 29:4 [GNT]

The Psalmist in Psalms 29 encourages his readers to remain strong and courageous in the midst of life’s storms and assures us that the Lord our God is in control of every situation in our life. His supremacy reigns throughout all the earth!

  • Ps 29:1-2 encourages us to praise the name of the Lord

  • Ps 29:3-9 expresses the power and the majesty of the voice of the Lord

  • Ps 29:10-11 emphasizes on the blessings, the strength and peace of the people of the Lord

Praise the Lord: We are called to praise the Lord with shouts of joy because He paid the price on the cross to redeem us from our sins and unite us with God, the Father. Every day of our lives here on earth should be a reflection of how it would be in heaven above. “And I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, in the world below, and in the sea- all living beings in the universe – and they were singing: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honor, glory and might, forever and ever!’” (Rev. 5:13GNT)

The Voice of the Lord: The Psalmist encourages us to take courage in every situation we face because the voice of the Lord is supreme in our lives. God can speak in any state we are in. The Psalmist describes the majesty of the voice of the Lord- The voice of the Lord is upon the waters, the God of glory thunders! The pillars of heaven tremble at His voice. The voice of the Lord our God is powerful and majestic. The Almighty God speaks- he calls to the whole earth from east to west. The Lord created the heavens by His command, the sun, moon, and stars by His spoken word. When He spoke, the world was created; at His command everything appeared.

The mighty one, God, speaks and calls the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. The Word of God teaches us to walk after the Lord our God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice and to serve Him and cling to Him all the days of our life. Are we tuned to the voice of the Lord today? If not, let us make the decision today to say as little Samuel did “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.” (1Sam. 3:10)

Blessings of the Lord: The Lord rules the world. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last. He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings! Joy, strength and peace are assured to all that hear His voice and obey Him. It is essential that we set our priorities right in life. It is of utmost importance for us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness in our lives. Let us put our trust in Him with all our heart. Let us acknowledge Him in everything we do and He will show us the right way.

May we strive to give Him all the praise and honor and glory in all that we say, in all that we do. May His name be glorified through us! May His majestic power be revealed and may He reign supreme in and through our lives. Amen!

To Act on:

“I will hear what God the Lord will speak,

for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints;…”

Psalm 85:8
